Jordan & Israel Tour (12 Days)
Day 1: Amman
Upon arrival at Amman Airport you will be assisted through customs (Visas are included and a Jordanian Tourism tax will be paid on your behalf to cover public liability insurance on equipment such as Jeeps, camels and horses) and baggage claim and transferred to the hotel.
Day 2: Amman
After breakfast you will visit the impressive Medieval architecture of the huge Ayyubid Castle at Ajloun where the Crusaders were defeated over 800 years ago. You will also see the superb and tranquil pine forests of the surrounding area. You will have lunch and the services of a driver.
Day 3: Amman - Dead Sea - Petra
After breakfast you will have a 3 hour transfer to Petra where you will visit Mount Nebo where according to Jewish and Christian tradition, Moses was buried. You will also visit the 19th century Greek Orthodox church of St. George at Madaba. This is home to the remnants of a mosaic constructed in 560 AD which was a map of all the major biblical sites from Lebanon to Egypt, with 157 Greek captions. Only about a third of the 2 million original pieces remain.
You will then be free to explore as you wish. Siq Al-Barid or Little Petra, 10 minutes drive away from Petra was an important suburb of the city of Petra and has a temple standing guard over it. It is located at the meeting point of several old caravan routes and linked Wadi Araba with Gaza and Egypt and the Mediterranean coast. There are many temples, tombs, houses and water channels and cisterns packed into the 350 m long strip and is fascinating and enjoyable to explore.
You will then be free to explore as you wish, Siq Al-Barid or Little Petra, 10 minutes drive away from Petra was an important suburb of the city of Petra and has a temple standing guard over it. It is located at the meeting point of several old caravan routes and linked Wadi Araba with Gaza and Egypt and the Mediterranean coast. Day 4: Petra
After breakfast you will visit Wadi Rum, a stunning landscape of huge mountains and pink sand and is known as the Valley of the Moon.
You will take a walking tour at night by yourself in the light of 1800 candles. This is an amazing experience as you walk along the candle-lit path through the Siq to the Khazneh and ending with traditional Bedouin music at the Treasury.
Day 5: Petra
After breakfast, you will have a private city tour where you will be able to see the wonders of this city carved out of red rock and known as Rose City. As the legacy of the Arabic Nabataeans over 2000 years ago, you will see the huge architectural buildings and monuments, the complex water systems and channels and carvings in the cliffs which are awe inspiring. You will have lunch and the services of a driver.
Day 6: Petra - Dead Sea
After breakfast you will have a 3 hour transfer to the Dead Sea, where you will visit John the Baptist's settlement at Bethany and where Jesus was baptized. It ıs on the east bank of the River Jordan and is slowly being excavated and restored for visitors. The evening will be free to explore or relax.
Day 7: Dead Sea - Allenby Bridge - Jerusalem
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Allenby Bridge Crossing and into Jerusalem.
Please Note: Jordanian visa cannot be obtained during transfer at this border crossing. Visa must be purchased in advance.
Day 8: Jerusalem
After breakfast you will take a private guided tour of the city along the Western Wall and the Temple Mount and the Dome of the Rock. You will see Al Aksa Mosque and the Cardo, an ancient shopping area still used today. From there you walk along the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for a photo opportunity. You will be able to do some shopping in the Old City market for handicrafts, spices and other traditional wares before ending the tour with a visit to David's Citadel and Museum by Jaffa Gate.
Day 9: Jerusalem
After breakfast you will take a guided tour of Jerusalem. You will visit the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept, and see a scale model of ancient Jerusalem, the Knesset building of the Israeli Parliament and the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust, Yad Vashem.
In the afternoon you will travel to Bethlehem and see the Milk Grotto, the birthplace of Christianity, the Church of the Nativity and other places of interest.
Day 10: Jerusalem - Galilee
After breakfast you will travel north through spectacular scenery to the Galilee region. Nazareth was where Jesus spent his childhood and is also where it is alleged the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary, at the Church of the Annunciation. You will also visit Mary's Well and Joseph's Church before visiting Capernaum and the ancient ruins of a synagogue and the still standing Church of St. Joseph, the site of the miracle of the loaves and fishes. You will then travel to Yardenit where the lake joins the River Jordan.
Day 11: Galilee - Tel Aviv
After breakfast you will be transferred to Rosh Hanikra where you will use a cable car to see the magnificent Grottos and a panoramic view of the area. From there you will travel to the sea port city of Acre with monuments and buildings from the Crusader era. You will then travel to Haifa and up to Mount Carmel for stunning panoramic views of Haifa Bay and the Baha'i Temple before visiting the ancient city of Caesarea to see ruins, monuments and the Crusader stronghold and on to Tel Aviv.
Day 12: Tel Aviv
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight.
