As you gaze up at the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture that inspired Mozart, you can almost hear the music of the great composer floating on the breeze that blows gently through Salzburg.

This 8 day tour takes you to Munich in Germany and Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. With its combination of ancient and modern architecture, from Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic styles, its many squares, palaces and parks, Munich is the third largest city in Germany.  It is a vibrant city to visit to see the many museums, exhibitions, international sporting events and of course, Oktoberfest.

Salzburg is the fourth largest city in Austria and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list as one of the best preserved cities. It is well known for its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture as well as its modern buildings and for being the birthplace of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart. It was also the setting for the film "The Sound of Music".It has many churches, cathedrals, abbeys and of course, "The Sound of Music" sites.

Vienna is the largest city in Austria and it known as the city of music and the city of dreams as it was home to Sigmund Freud. It is renowned for its architecture and museums, palaces and parks.

Discover Munich, Salzburg & Vienna (8 Days)

Day 1: Munich

You will be transferred from the airport to the Hotel in Munich where you will receive a welcome pack including a city map and other tourist information you may need. You will stay overnight in Munich.


Day 2: Munich

After breakfast you will take a guided tour of the city. Your guide will give you detailed information about all the buildings you see and the history of the city. You will see museums, squares, palaces and parks and wonderful architecture. You can find a cafe or restaurant to have lunch and enjoy the views or enjoy a beer at a beer hall. Ask your guide for local favourites. Entrance fees and lunch are not included. If you are coming to Munich during Oktoberfest, we can tailor your tour to include the festivities.


Day 3: Munich

After breakfast you will visit Neuschwanstein Castle, (entrance included) a Romanesque revival palace on a hill and built as a retreat for the composer Richard Wagner overlooking the 700 year old village of Fussen. It has spectacular views of the natural lakes and valleys from the Marienbrueke, the bridge above the castle.

On the return journey to Munich, you will stop to visit the Pilgrimage Church of Wieskirche, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list as a masterpiece of human creativity and an exceptional reminder of a lost cultural tradition. From there you will visit a cheese farm to sample cheese and sausage platters with fresh bread whilst enjoying the views.


Day 4: Munich - Salzburg

After breakfast you will be transferred to the station for a 2 hour journey to Salzburg and on to the hotel in Salzburg from where you will take a guided tour of the city. Here you will discover the historical buildings and musical sites of Mozart's Salzburg. Your guide will provide a commentary of everything you see and also insights into the culture before you end the tour with a visit to the Mozart Residence or "dancing master's house" on Makart Square. Here a dancing master taught children how to dance and behave before Mozart took up residence.


Day 5: Salzburg

After breakfast the day will be free to explore as you wish. You may like to take a tour of the Lake District Salzkammergut just outside Salzburg where you can see the old hunting Castle Fuschl, now luxury accommodation, where celebrities and royalty stay. You can visit St Wolfgang and see the winged altar of the Pilgrimage Church before taking a boat across Lake Wolfgangsee to St. Gilgen where Mozart's mother was born. You will see the impressive Castle Huttenstein, built in the 1300's and remodelled in Neo-Gothic style in 1843, pass along the lake Mondsee and return to the centre of Salzburg.


Day 6: Salzburg - Vienna

After breakfast you will be transferred to the station for a 3 hour journey to Vienna and on to the Hotel. You will then take a 4 hour guided tour of the city where you will walk along the Ringstrasse and view the magnificent architecture of the MAK, the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Natural History Museum. You will also see the Hofburg, the former winter residence of the Hapsburgs, Parliament, City Hall and Burgtheatre. You will then visit the Schonbrunn Palace to see the most impressive showrooms of the former summer residence of the Hapsburgs.


Day 7: Vienna

After breakfast you will take a full-day tour to Wachau to enjoy the beautiful scenery of steep vineyards and history of the old castles as the Danube flows through the area. You will take a romantic boatride and visit the old town of Krems, an old wine merchants town and the "Cradle of Austria" that is Melk to see the Benedictine Abbey, a Baroque-style abbey. You may bring a packed lunch or try the traditional cuisine at the Abbey restaurant. The tour ends at the Opera House in Vienna. Entrance fees to the Melk Monastery and boat ride are included.


Day 8: Vienna

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight.

Ghotel Munich Zentrum Hotel is located in the heart of the city and you can almost reach Viktualienmarkt, the Marienplatz and the Deutsches Museum by foot. The hotel commands an excellent view of the Isar River, which is situated in the edge of the Isarvorstadt, a multicultural quarter lying in the south of the Old Town, surrounded by nice restaurants and bistros. The hotel's guestrooms are tastefully furnished with all the amenities needed for a good night's stay. They have a shower/bathroom, hairdryer, safe, cable TV, direct dial telephone and, if requested, offer access to the internet by WLAN, analogue dial-in or ISDN. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area. Please note that there is no air conditioning in this hotel.


Hofwirt HOTEL is a historical HOTEL IN THE heart of Salzburg right next to Linzergasse, a pedestrian zone in the centre of Salzburg and only a short walk from the train station, the Congress Centre, and Mirabell Palace. The Hofwirt is a traditional yet modern HOTEL, built in 1878 and renovated in 2007. The comfortable guest rooms are furnished in a modern or traditional style and feature cable TV and a bathroom. A breakfast buffet is served in the morning. Guests may dine in the on-site restaurant

The Imperial Palace Hofburg with its Congress Centre, the Vienna State Opera as well as the exclusive shopping streets Kärntnerstraße and Graben can all be reached easily with short walks through the typical old Viennese side streets of the city center. The accommodations feature a stylish design, leaving no aspect of modern comfort for you to miss out on. You can relax in one of their lounge rooms furnished in Biedermeier style or enjoy the Viennese evenings on the quietly located terrace with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine,. Here you’ll also find a high-speed internet terminal, a wireless LAN (WI-FI) hotspot and a 5-language cable television at your disposal free of charge.
