The 6th June 2014, saw the world come together to remember the brave Allied troops who died during the landings on the Normandy coastline, confirming that the D-Day story still captivates and inspires people 70 years later. This tour will take you from defeat to victory, tracing the events during one of the most gripping periods of the 20th century.

D-Day France Tour (8 Days)

Day 1: Paris
We will have a Meet & Greet assistant waiting for you outside of customs for your added comfort. This assistant will have a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation. You will enjoy a private airport transfer in Paris in a private vehicle with a professional driver. Please note drivers may or may not speak English as their sole responsibility is to transfer clients from one location to another. If you would like to have the presence of an English speaking Assistant or Guide for your transfer this can be pre-arranged upon request and would be subject to an additional supplement. A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you when you arrive at your first hotel on your trip.

Day 2: Paris
Today you will be met by your English speaking professional guide at your hotel for a tour of the local's Paris. As well as showing you the highlights of Paris (the city is very accessible on foot) your guide will tell you the history of the city and show you the city from a local's point of view.
NB: If you have, a specific area of Paris you would be interested to explore let us know and we can request a specialist guide, along with adding a Metro Pass where necessary.
With many of the magnificent buildings gleam, Paris takes on a different hue at night, making it possibly the best time to admire the beauty of the city. You have a lot of options for evening entertainment to choose from, including an early evening wine tasting in a beautiful, airy Parisian sommelier, located close to the lively Marais district, a dinner cruise, a cabaret show, dinner in the Eiffel Tower followed by a night time cruise, or an illuminated evening tour of the city.

Day 3: Paris
Today you will discover Versailles Palace, the symbol of France's grandeur during the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV. You will leave Paris by the western districts of the city and follow the Normandy motorway as far as Versailles in a luxury air conditioned coach. Your guide will take you straight in without standing in line and lead you through the most beautiful rooms including the Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s private Apartment. Then you will enjoy some free time to explore the palace gardens. This tour has a central pick up and drop off point in the centre of Paris and hotel pick up and/or drop off is not provided. This tour includes entrance to Versailles Palace, authorisation fees for guided visits, and a multilingual guide with individual earphones. Please note that shared tours can have up to about 50 people (depending on the number of people that have signed up for the tour on the particular day, and are carried out in a number of languages). Note: from April 2nd to October 29th, the entrance fees to the gardens are NOT INCLUDED: - On "MUSICAL FOUNTAIN DISPLAY" days ( Saturdays and Sundays, Tuesdays from May 21st to June 25th + May 8th + May 9th + August 15th)- On "MUSICAL GARDENS" days (Tuesdays from April 2nd to May 14th and from July 2nd to October 29th), on bank holidays.

Day 4: Paris, Bricquebec
You will be using a local taxi for transportation. Please note that this is not included in trip price and is payable locally. You will meet with your Guide and fellow travelers of your small group tour at the Hotel le Demeure, 51 Boulevard Saint Marcel, 75005, Paris. First, you will make your way to Normandy, with a stop at the Merville Battery overlooking Sword Beach and the military cemetery, where the British and Canadian regiments suffered great losses. In Ranville, the first village to be liberated after the Allied offensive, you will visit the War Cemetery before exploring Pegasus Bridge, which was captured intact in less than ten minutes on 6 June 1944.Tonight you will enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers.

Day 5: Bricquebec
Today will be spent covering the British and Canadian landing and dropping zones. Gold and Juno Beaches, each with their own reminders of epic events, the Mulberry Harbour in Arromanches, Pegasus Bridge, Cafe Gondree and many other places of interest, including the Canadian War Cemetery at Beny-sur-Mer and Longues-sur-Mer Battery.

Day 6: Bricquebec
Today you will spend time covering the American involvement. You will visit Utah Beach and 'bloody' Omaha Beach, with its sheer cliffs at the Pointe du Hoc, and Colleville Cemetery, containing the remains of nearly 10,000 servicemen. Your visits for today will end with a stop at Sainte-Mere-Eglise, where paratrooper John Steele got caught on the church steeple.

Day 7: Bricquebec, Paris
Your final day will start with a drive towards Bayeux, where you will visit the Memorial Museum and see the world-famous Tapestry, before you travel to Trun and learn about the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, which opened the way to Paris for the Allies. Your small group tour will end this evening at Hotel la Demeure, 51 Boulevard Saint Marcel, 75005, Paris. You will use a local taxi for transportation. Day 8: Paris
Tonight, you will enjoy a private airport transfer in Paris in a private vehicle with a professional driver. Please note that the prices below are for per person travelling. 'Twin/Double' prices per person apply when there are 2 people travelling and sharing a room. The 'Single supplement' applies for single travelers who require their own room and needs to be added to the 'Twin/Double' price. If you are happy to be paired up with another single traveler of the same sex on your tour, this can be arranged, thus avoiding the single person supplement. All our scheduled tour departures are guaranteed subject to a minimum of 2 travelers.

Small group tours depart on May 1 & 29, June 26, July 24, August 21, September 11 & October 2, 2015 and are guaranteed with a minimum of 4 participants.
