This 12 day tour takes you on a first class adventure from Toronto and Vancouver by rail. Travel through the Niagara Peninsular and see the majestic Niagara Falls and the orchard countryside, the spectacular Rocky mountains and fertile prairies and the Great Plains of Canada. Explore the resorts of Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff and see the abundant wildlife and forest scenery,  and be adventurous with a scenic ride in the Banff Gondola, see the stunning panoramic views from the Glacier Skywalk and visit Athabasca Glacier for walk on the ice. Your tour will end in the vibrant city of Vancouver where you will discover the culture, art and music and delicious cuisine.

Canadian Rail Adventure from Toronto (13 Days/12 Nights)

Day 1 – Toronto Arrival

Upon arrival in Toronto, you will be free to explore this metropolitan city, from downtown, with cultural buildings and areas, the Distillery District, which has the largest and best preserved collection of Victorian architecture in North America and was formerly an alcohol processing centre, Little Italy and Kensington Market. You will discover the great diversity of art, entertainment and wonderful cuisine.

Day 2 – Niagara Falls Day Trip

After breakfast you will travel to the Niagara Falls Region and see the spectacular, horse-shoe shaped falls which have the highest flow in the world. You will have a buffet lunch overlooking the falls before taking a Hornblower Cruise to the base of the falls and see it close up. You will return to Toronto through Niagara-on-the-Lake.

 

Day 3 – VIA Rail to Jasper

You will board an overnight train from Union Station to Jasper where you will enjoy the amenities onboard such as delicious meals, lovely large windows to view the scenery as you pass and comfortable sleeping accommodation as you will stay overnight aboard the train.

 

Day 4 & 5 – VIA Rail to Jasper

You will spend the next 2 days on board the train, viewing stunning scenery from the panorama viewing car, eating first-class cuisine and socializing with other passengers. You will say overnight aboard the train.

 

Day 6 – Jasper Arrival

You will arrive in Jasper in the late afternoon where you will be free to explore the town as you wish. Set in the Jasper National Park, you will see beautiful mountains and trees, the home to a wide range of flora and fauna.

 

Day 7 – Jasper

In the morning you will take a sightseeing tour to explore the history and beauty of Jasper. You will see the Athabasca River and discover how the early mountaineers and explorers passed through the area, the majestic Maligne Canyon and learn of the disappearing Medicine Lake and take photographs of yourself by Maligne Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

 

Day 8 – Jasper to Lake Louise

This is a fascinating and adventurous day starting with the Icefields Parkway. You will travel through mountain walkways surrounded by forests, streams and high peaks and glaciers. You will be able to walk on Athabasca Glacier and take a ride in an all-terrain Ice explorer. From a glass platform at the Glacier Skywalk, you will be able to see the stunning vista over Sunwapta Valley, before continuing through the Icefields Parkway to Peyto Lake for a photo opportunity and then on to the village of Lake Louise where you will be free to relax.

Day 9 – Lake Louise to Banff

On this full-day tour you will explore Lake Louise and Yoho National Park, with the chrystal water of Lake Louise and the backdrop of Mount Victoria and the Victoria Glacier, the awesome Takakkaw Falls and the tranquil settings of Moraine Lake and Emerald Lake. You will cross the continental divide at Kicking Horse Pass and see the beauty of Yoho Valley before continuing along Bow Valley Corridor to Banff, in the mountains.

 

Day 10 – Banff

You will spend the morning exploring Banff's points of interest. You will visit Bow Falls, Two Jack Lake and Surprise Corner and learn about the significance of the Hoodoo Rock formations. You will take Banff Gondola up the Sulphur Mountain for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. You will visit Lake Minnewanka and the beautiful scenery. The evening will be free to relax in Banff.

 

Day 11 – Banff to Kamloops

You will board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a spectacular journey. You will see the magnificent peak of Mount Temple, pass through the amazing Spiral Tunnels, travel along Kicking Horse River and see the rugged wildness of Roger's Pass. Then you will see the beautiful rolling hills and shimmering lakes of the Okanagan Region where you will arrive in Kamloops, disembark the train and spend a relaxing evening.

Day 12 – Kamloops to Vancouver

You will again board the Rocky Mountaineer train and traverse through the desert hills, ranches, rivers and mountains of British Columbia. You will arrive at Pacific Central Station in Vancouver where you will be free to explore as you wish. A visit to FlyOver Canada provides a great introduction to Canada’s diverse geography and scenic wonders from coast to coast.

 

Day 13 – Vancouver Departure

You will check out of the hotel this morning and the tour will end.
